INCORPORATION OF A PODIATRIC PRACTICE

CREATING A CORPORATION

The first step to obtaining a permit to deliver podiatric services through a company is to create a corporation through the BC Registrar of Companies.

The Registrar of Companies will require the College’s consent to a corporate name before allowing a corporation to be registered.  An application for name approval in Form 10 must first be submitted to the College. If the proposed name complies with the requirments of the College bylaws, the Registrar will write a letter of approval to the Corporate Registry. This letter may be provided directly to a lawyer for submission to the Registry.

The rules relating to the acceptable forms of name are set out in the College Bylaws.

Lawyers must ensure that the corporate structure including share ownership of the podiatric corporation complies with the requirements of the Health Professions Act and the College bylaws.
